Top of the Tower

The top of All Saints’ Church tower was visited for the first time in about 10 years this week for the church’s Quinquennial Inspection. All Church of England buildings are required to have an inspection by their church architect once every 5 years. Access to our tower has been restricted for Health and Safety reasons for the last few years but thanks to the work of the PCC, and in particular Simon Davies, a safe way to access the tower has been found. Our Rector, Peter, took the opportunity to take some pictures and videos. Some of the pictures can been seen by clicking here.

One delightful surprise for Peter was to see the inscriptions on the bells with the words ‘A Joyful Resurrection’. The two current bells were recast from the original bells which were brought down in the bombing of the church in 1940. Click here to see pictures of the inscription.
