Leviticus 13: 45-46 & 14: 1-7
Matthew 8: 1-4
‘Make me clean’
- Why should those suffering have to make visible signs that they were ‘unclean’? (Lev 13: v45-46)
- How would this make them feel…how would you feel if you had to make yourself visibly ‘unclean’ to society?
- Why do you think that the Priest had such an important role to play in pronouncing a person ‘clean’? (14: v7)
- In a very different era, and on a different scale, but thinking about our fairly recent experiences of Covid 19; are there any similarities that you found difficult and why (Only share what is comfortable)
- Following the sermon on the mount, in Matthew 8, the first thing we hear of Jesus doing as he comes off the mountain is to heal a man with leprosy. Why do you think that Matthew includes this account in this place?
- What is it that the man is really looking for?
- How can the man’s request to Jesus, help us in the way that we approach him with our prayers?
- Why do you feel that Jesus suggests he does not tell anyone that he has been cured by him, but to go and seek the Priest, and speak of the law of Moses?
